Our Approach

Academic Rigor

We use a classical Christian liberal arts approach because modern American children do not suffer from being given too much but from being given too little of real substance. Our kids are made for more, and it honors God to challenge ourselves intellectually – not for the sake of achievement to please ourselves or others, but to experience the life-giving fullness of how God made us.

Foundational Habits

What we ultimately love and desire is determined more by what we do over and over again than what we think. Sound spiritual, social, and academic habits are keystone behaviors that change our thinking and lead to a life of resilience and growth in Christ.

Physical Activity & Play

Children grow stronger, more confident, and exercise more independence as adults when they experience freedom, creativity, and risk during play and physical fitness activities.

A Word on Difficulty and Challenge

Since the foundation of the world, God has not only allowed humanity to face resistance, but He uses it to strengthen us for His glory and our good. In fact, it can’t happen any other way. Strong relationships are often built on shared hardships. Strong bodies are built on resistance training and adversity. Strong spirits are built through patient self-denial and spiritual discipline. Strong minds and imaginations are built on the slow, difficult work of discovery and contemplation. Wisdom is forged through experiencing all of these things over time. It doesn’t come quickly, cheaply, or easily. Our desire is that Asbury Classical School, as a discipleship ministry of Asbury Church, can create environments of “controlled difficulty” for the sole purpose of building up our students and their families into confident, resilient, wise, faithful followers of Jesus for the sake of the world.
